Manchester sits at the junction of US-7 and VT-11/30 in southwest Vermont. The fast approach from the south is US-7 from Bennington, about 25 minutes, while the scenic parallel VT-7A runs through the Village. Albany International is the closest major airport at around an hour and fifteen minutes away, and Amtrak's Ethan Allen Express stops in Rutland an hour north. There is no rail station in town and no meaningful local transport, so a car is essential here.
When to go
Late September into mid-October is peak foliage and the busiest, most expensive stretch, so book months out. Summer is for the Battenkill and the trails, and December through March is for skiing.
